Fuel Injection
Automotive fuel injection is an electronic system used to supply fuel to the internal combustion engine.
The fuel injection system replaced the carburetor system. The fuel injection system provides precise fuel delivery to the engine.
The fuel injection system worked by using a computer control unit to determine how much fuel was needed to mix with air in the combustion chamber.
This electronic system increases the efficiency of the engine.
There are two types of fuel injection systems: port fuel injection and direct fuel injection. In port fuel injection, the fuel is injected into the intake ports on the cylinder heads.
In direct fuel injection, the fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber. The fuel injection system has several advantages over the carburetor system.
Some of the advantages are increased fuel efficiency, increased power output, reduced emissions, and improved cold weather starts.
